Queen Of HOPE and Diamonds
THE QUEEN IS BACK!

I’m baaaaaaaaaaaack. Huzzah.

So, during the period that I could not seem to make my Tumblr work, I did launch a little project on Twitter which I am calling “25 Tweets in 25 Days.”

It’s, well, 25 tweets in 25 days (sure, I’m tweeting more often than that, but these Tweets are all specifically baseball-related).

I welcome comments and thoughts, either here or on my Twitter feed (see link to the right) or at my Queen of Diamonds Facebook page (again, link to the right).

So, to catch you all up, here are the first eight days’ worth …

DAY ONE: I am undecided as to whether the “age of the internet” has helped or hurt baseball journalism overall.

DAY TWO: I don’t get why having a woman trainer in MLB is such a big issue. I never had a problem having a male gynecologist.

DAY THREE: Biggest work-related regret I have in my life — not taking Spanish in ninth grade when I had the opportunity.

DAY FOUR: If you want the best (not necessarily $$$) restaurant recommendation in any city or town in the USA, ask a pro baseball scout.

DAY FIVE: I totally don’t get why people beg celebs to RT them. It’s not like it makes people think they’re friends. Just desperate.

DAY SIX: My all-time fave MLB team: the ‘94 Montreal Expos. Being AT 3-game series where they beat ATL to move into first was AMAZING.

DAY SEVEN: I’ll never get used to seeing men with big boxes of baseball cards getting multiple autographs from same minor league players.

And … bringing us up to date until tonight’s entry …

DAY EIGHT: The player/coach loss that broke my heart the most during my career was the passing of Ellie Hendricks. The kindest man ever.

Here is a link to a wonderful column about Hendricks from John Eisenberg of the Baltimore Sun from almost six years ago …

The Orioles have not yet retired Hendricks’ #44 (coincidentally my own lucky number) but no one on the active roster wears it. With the return of the 1970 Orioles “birdie” to the 2012 uniform, and the arrival of a new GM in Dan Duquette, what would be a better way to kick of the season than with a tribute to one of the most beloved players in team history by retiring No. 44 on Opening Day? Just a thought …
